THE BASEL SCHOOL OF ART AND DESIGN

Wolfgang Weingart’s typography and humour was very challenging and thought  provoking.

The Kunstgewerbeschule was more than just an art school, following the philosophy of the Bauhaus. It was the Bauhaus. All of the  teachers had to be artists, which they were.

First you had to learn their way of thinking to grow creatively and secondly, you had to fight their philosophy in order to survive and build-up your own. Lots of confusion, but no ignorance. I still remember the “Laugenbrötli” with Salami.
