GLANZMANN/SCHLÄFLI

The concept of the ZURICH STORE was anti-establishment. In the conservative Zurich, this was quite easy to be. We moved in the multi-cultural Kreis 4. Life here was more inspiring, people were less ignorant and the message was political and incorrect. Peoples views were anti-dictatorship, anti-power, anti-banks and anti-racist which was very easy to recognise. The black flag was our icon. The namplate was a grave stone made out of black marble plate, 1.2m in size. The wooden floor was blackish similar to the Wiener-Secession building. A huge mirror with a framing made out of natural moss was looking at you, and the counter had a display of a stickman skeleton like a children’s drawing, but with real bones on a bed of golden ferns. The music we played was by bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and the Cure.

Besides sharing the atelier and the showroom, each designer made his own collection, with his own thoughts and styles. Erika and Stephan both got nominated for the “Jardin des Modes-Fashion Award”. And the winner was… Stephan Schläfli. Kisses and congratulations.
